Today I want to share with you my five favorite hymns. I cannot begin to tell you how powerful these sacred songs have been in my life. I constantly use these "delete keys" (see yesterday's Food For Thought quote by Boyd K. Packer) in my fight for righteous living.
1. When Faith Endures
2. Where Can I Turn for Peace?
3. All Creatures of Our God and King
4. I Need Thee Every Hour
5. Come, Come Ye Saints
Here are the words to "When Faith Endures," which I wish was more well-known in the church. Its message of resolute devotion encourages me in life's most difficult moments:
I will not doubt, I will not fear;
God’s love and strength are always near.
His promised gift helps me to find
An inner strength and peace of mind.
I give the Father willingly
My trust, my prayers, humility.
His Spirit guides; his love assures
That fear departs when faith endures.

I would LOVE to hear what your favorite hymns are too!

How Firm A Foundation is one of mine because of the verse, "Fear not, I am with thee. Oh be not dismayed, for I am thy God and will still give thee aid. I'll strengthen thee, help thee and cause thee to stand upheld by my righteous omnipotent hand."
What a comfort that is!
You hit on most of mine, though I didn't inlcude When Faith Endures. I don't think I've ever heard it. Thanks for sharing the words.
I LOVE-LOVE-LOVE "Where Can I Turn for Peace?". My list would also include "O Savior, Thou Who Warest a Crown" [but I like it better to the music from "If You Could High to Kolob"]. I also love "Brightly Beams Our Father's Mercy" , "Press Forward Saints" and "How Great Thou Art". I could list another 5...but I think these are my tops.
